VisionFund, Global Parametrics to develop two-peril Amazon Basin cover

The two-peril parametric meso-insurance product is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2026 for World Vision offices across Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.

VisionFund, the financial inclusion arm of World Vision, is partnering with Global Parametrics to design a two-peril parametric meso-insurance product for World Vision offices in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru, as part of the Amazon Basin Initiative, Artemis reports.

The program, co-financed by the InsuResilience Solutions Fund, is intended to help address more frequent and severe weather events that are destroying crops, disrupting livelihoods, and pushing families deeper into poverty across the Amazon Basin and other climate-vulnerable regions.

According to the announcement, the coverage will support faster responses to floods, droughts, and other climate shocks, while aiming to reduce the financial strain those crises place on families.

VisionFund said the solution will give each office a proactive safety net to rapidly respond to a disaster, with implementation planned to begin in the last quarter of 2026 and the Amazon Basin model intended for replication in Southeast Asia and Southern Africa initially.
