India boosts efforts to end Ukraine war amid tariff and attack risks
The conflict has raised pressure in New Delhi from potential US tariffs targeting buyers of Russian energy, and a Sunday drone strike hit an Indian-owned Kusum Group pharmaceutical plant.
India is stepping up its efforts to help end the Russia-Ukraine war as costs for New Delhi continue to rise, according to SCMP Economy.
The outlet links the increased involvement to the threat of US tariffs on major buyers of Russian energy, and to fresh violence affecting Indian-linked business interests in Ukraine.
SCMP Economy reports that a Sunday morning drone attack destroyed a large part of Kusum Group’s factory in Sumy, killing one person and injuring several others. The generic medicines manufacturer has produced in Ukraine since 2009, and the company said the attack was especially damaging because its warehouse had already been hit by a drone strike in April last year.
