Moody’s affirms Zurich’s Aa2 rating after Beazley deal closes
Moody’s affirmed Zurich Insurance and all Zurich Group debt ratings after the £8 billion ($11 billion) Beazley acquisition closed on 1 October 2026, with a stable outlook across entities.
Moody’s Ratings has affirmed Zurich Insurance Company’s Aa2 insurance financial strength rating following the completion of Zurich Group’s acquisition of Beazley on 1 October 2026.
The rating action also affirmed all of Zurich Group’s debt ratings, with Moody’s maintaining a stable outlook across all group entities.
Moody’s cited expected earnings support from Zurich’s global franchise and broad diversification, and it noted a management fee from Farmers Insurance Exchange.
The agency said the Beazley deal strengthens Zurich’s presence in high-margin specialty insurance lines and expands access to the Lloyd’s of London market and third-party capital, increasing exposure to specialty classes including cyber, excess and surplus lines, marine and political risk.
