RPC opens New York office and adds insurance claims partner

The London firm said its clients are seeing more complex, fast-moving claims with US exposure, prompting a New York team focused on financial lines and cyber.

Insurance Business reports that UK law firm RPC has opened its first US office in New York, hiring insurance coverage specialist Scott Schechter as a partner.

RPC said Schechter will build a dedicated New York insurance team to handle complex claims involving US exposure, with a focus on financial lines and cyber, working with RPC colleagues in the UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The outlet also said RPCs clients increasingly face complex, fast-moving claims with US exposure, and that the firm expects New York to be a natural next step as many global D&O, cyber, and warranty and indemnity matters raise both US litigation and London-market coverage questions.

In addition to the office opening, Insurance Business notes that Guidewire appointed Dan Brown as chief product officer, reporting to CEO Mike Rosenbaum.
