Trump executive order expands access to tax-free dyed diesel
The White House said the order defers the federal diesel tax on dyed diesel through the end of the year, with no interest or penalties.
OilPrice reports that President Trump signed an executive order that temporarily expands highway use of so-called red-dyed diesel for American drivers.
According to the White House, the move makes the fuel more affordable by reducing the taxes applied to dyed diesel.
The White House said the order defers the federal diesel tax on that fuel through the end of the year, adding that there would be no interest or penalties.
OilPrice notes that the change took place after the order was signed late on Monday, as fuel prices have risen, reaching $6.32 for the period referenced in the report's headline.
