Asos says hacker accessed customer names and contact details
Asos said payment details and passwords were not compromised, and it is working with legal and regulatory authorities after a 48-hour investigation.
Asos said hackers accessed the names and contact details of millions of customers after impersonating a “trusted contact” to gain access to one of its employee accounts, according to the Guardian Business.
The retailer said payment details and passwords were not compromised, and it described the incident as involving basic personal information and “certain non-personal account related information,” after a detailed, 48-hour investigation.
Asos also said the Asos website and app were safe to use while it worked with legal and regulatory authorities.
Shares fell by about 10% after thousands of users received a notification titled “Asos hacked” with a link to Telegram.
