Block’s Cash App gave away 1 bitcoin at ComplexCon in Los Angeles

The giveaway happened via a Cash App stall game, Lightning Lake, where one attendee won 1 BTC valued at $85,000 at the time.

Bitcoin Magazine reports that Block, the Jack Dorsey-led fintech, gifted 1 BTC to a lucky attendee at this year’s ComplexCon in Los Angeles.

According to Bitcoin Magazine, Block used its Cash App booth and a fishing game called “Lightning Lake” that let attendees win small amounts of bitcoin, and one participant won a whole coin.

Bitcoin Magazine also cited Maria Pesce, Block’s Head of Bitcoin Marketing, saying the company wanted bitcoin to feel approachable, tangible, and fun.

The article adds that Cash App lets users send, receive, and buy bitcoin, and that Square point-of-sale terminals can accept bitcoin through the Lightning Network.
