British police order search warrants for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor quashed
Police said the warrants were issued unlawfully, but the investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is continuing.
British police said Thursday that search warrants they obtained to search properties linked to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor must be legally quashed because they were issued unlawfully, while the investigation into the case continues, according to Reuters via SCMP Economy.
Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office tied to his relationship with late US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Reuters reported, and searches were carried out at properties in Sandringham and Windsor.
The arrest of the senior royal, eighth in line to the throne, was described as unprecedented in modern times, with Reuters noting the case received international attention after a photo of Mountbatten-Windsor leaving a police station appeared on front pages.
