Cannabis vape pen firm faces backlash over Bitcoin rewards program

DL News reports that a California-based cannabis vape pen company is giving customers Bitcoin through a rewards program tied to using its product.

The firm uses the tagline “Every hit earns crypto,” and the outlet reports that the program has drawn alarm for its “dangerous” and “unethical” framing.

DL News also says the company, Gudtrip, argues its product is not designed to encourage greater cannabis consumption, despite the crypto-for-use messaging.

The article further notes the controversy centers on the company’s cryptocurrency reward approach for customers consuming cannabis through its vape product.
