CHS breaks ground on $700 million soybean processing plant in Wisconsin
The facility is expected to process 80 million bushels of soybeans annually and produce about 1 billion pounds of soybean oil plus 2 million tons of soybean meal.
CHS, Inc. broke ground Oct. 7 on a planned soybean processing facility near Evansville, Wisconsin, with the company saying development activity for the project is now underway.
According to World Grain, the plant is expected to process 80 million bushels of soybeans each year, producing about 1 billion pounds of soybean oil and 2 million tons of soybean meal.
The project, first announced Sept. 14, is budgeted at roughly $700 million, and CHS said construction is expected to start after required permitting processes are completed.
World Grain reports CHS expects the new capacity to expand domestic processing, create additional market opportunities for farmers, and help meet growing demand across food, feed, and renewable fuel markets.
