Dollar Index holds near 102.30 as Fed Waller offers no timeline

The index has stayed within the same range since Oct. 1, trading around 102.30 even as the 10-year yield remains near 5.3%.

The U.S. Dollar Index was flat, holding near 102.30 after a push for further rate hikes from Fed Governor Christopher Waller did not change the market’s direction, according to FXStreet.

The dollar index has been trapped in a range since Oct. 1, with 102.50 stopping it on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, while it trades around 102.30.

FXStreet also pointed to the broader rate backdrop, noting a 10-year Treasury yield near 5.3% and another round of selling in European government bonds that left the dollar range-bound.

Waller said more hikes are likely to bring inflation back to 2% sooner, and that they do not need to come at consecutive meetings, while he cited persistent inflation pressures including higher technology prices tied to the AI build-out and the threat of new tariffs.
