Gold falls after stronger dollar cracks $4120 to $4100 support
The move sets up a consolidation-to-lower scenario unless gold holds above $4120, traders would look for a sustained break to open the path toward $4000.
Gold faced increased selling pressure on Wednesday as a stronger dollar weighed on the metal, with price breaking below the key $4120 to $4100 support zone. Action Forex said the $4120/$4100 area had repeatedly held earlier attacks over the past two weeks.
The analysis tied the $4120/$4100 level to the 76.4% Fibonacci retracement of a $3942 to $4697 rally, and noted that recent price action formed only a temporary base. It said limited rebounds topped out as gold remained below its falling 10-day moving average and below a bear trendline off the $4697 peak.
Action Forex added that a firm break below $4120 would be needed to confirm the bearish continuation signal and potentially steer prices toward the psychological $4000 level and the 2026 low at $3942. It also flagged that a bounce could be followed by a false break if gold repeatedly closes back above $4120, while a lift and close above $4230 would undermine the bearish view.
