Hong Kong national security police arrest two over alleged seditious posts
The suspects, both 38, were arrested on Tuesday and are accused of running social media pages and publishing posts that incite hatred against Hong Kong’s constitutional order.
Hong Kong national security police have arrested two people, including a licensed insurance broker, on suspicion of publishing allegedly seditious posts on social media, according to SCMP Economy.
A force spokesman said the national security department arrested a man and a woman, both 38, on Tuesday, and the pair were suspected of acts with a seditious intention under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
The spokesman said the suspects were believed to be operating pages on various social media platforms and publishing posts that incite hatred against the constitutional order of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
SCMP Economy reports a source said the pair were suspected of managing social media pages for YellowInsurance, a platform accused of posting content supporting the 2019 anti government protests and of smearing the Hong Kong and central governments.
