Icen Risk hires two senior tax underwriters in North America

The new hires, Hannah Tucker and Courtney Johnson, join from QBE and expand Icen Risk’s US tax liability underwriting bench as transactional risk coverage demand grows.

Icen Risk has appointed Hannah Tucker and Courtney Johnson as senior tax underwriters for its North American tax liability insurance team, adding two specialists with legal and advisory backgrounds, according to Insurance Business.

Both underwriters join from QBE, where Tucker worked as a tax underwriter for six years and Johnson for five years.

Tucker will be based in Houston and previously worked as a tax attorney at PwC in New York, advising on domestic tax matters before moving into insurance. Johnson will be based in Boston and spent time at PwC as well, working with multinational businesses on cross-border tax issues before joining QBE.

The appointments come about 12 months after Icen entered the US market with $50 million in underwriting capacity backed by Zurich Insurance Group, which made a strategic equity investment in April 2025, Insurance Business reports. Chad Wilson also said the team operates across Central, Eastern and European time zones.
