Indian shares expected to open lower on RBI rate move
GIFT Nifty pointed to a weak start, and the Sensex fell 0.6% after the Reserve Bank of India lifted its key policy rate for the first time in nearly four years.
Investors are set to watch multiple companies on Thursday, October 8, as Indian equities are expected to start lower following corporate announcements across several sectors, LiveMint Markets said.
Ahead of the open, GIFT Nifty was trading around 22,557, down nearly 35 points from the previous close of Nifty futures, signaling a negative start for domestic benchmark indices.
The previous session ended in the red, with the BSE Sensex falling 429.1 points, or 0.6%, to settle at 72,638.7, after the Reserve Bank of India raised its key policy rate for the first time in nearly four years.
Among the stocks in focus were Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries, Ola Electric, Tata Steel, PC Jeweller, Sun Pharma, and Varun Beverages, as the market tracks expected order wins, business updates, and expansion plans that could move individual shares during the day.
