Ivanhoe copper output rises 19% in third quarter at Kamoa-Kakula
Production climbed to 76,401 tonnes in 3Q, with mining rates up 30% to more than 700,000 tonnes per month.
Ivanhoe Mines reported third-quarter copper production of 76,401 tonnes, up 19% from the previous quarter, as operations recovered at its Kamoa-Kakula mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mining.com reported.
The company said the third quarter included 68,188 tonnes of copper concentrate, an 11.5% increase quarter over quarter. Mining rates rose 30% to more than 700,000 tonnes per month.
Ivanhoe attributed the improvement to higher mining rates and better underground access, including additional crews, a new box-cut access point at the Kamoa 1 mine, and the start of stoping to accelerate underground work.
While the rebound brought output back toward 2025 levels, the miner still expects annual production to finish near the lower end of its guidance, Mining.com added.
