Oil rises in Asia on Middle East risk reports and Iran-strike concerns
The move followed reports of a tanker hit off Qatar and a Houthi claim of a missile attack on Riyadh airport, while Asian equities slid on rate and inflation worries.
Oil prices rose in Asia on Thursday, with risk sentiment supported by reports tied to the Middle East and concerns around potential Iran strikes, as the US prepared to resume strike options, according to Forexlive.
The bulletin also cited reports that a tanker was hit off Qatar and that Houthis claimed a missile attack on Riyadh airport, both of which helped lift oil.
In other markets, Japanese and South Korean stocks fell as traders weighed rate and inflation concerns, while gold also firmed.
The update additionally noted that the PBOC set the USD/CNY reference rate for the day at 6.7367, compared with an estimated 6.7254.
