U.S. government moves 833.6 BTC and 40,285 BNB to Coinbase Prime
Arkham data shows 833.6 BTC worth about $71.6 million and 40,285 BNB were transferred, with motives for any planned sale not confirmed.
Cryptocurrency wallets controlled by the U.S. government moved more than $100 million worth of Bitcoin and BNB on Tuesday, according to data compiled by blockchain analytics firm Arkham, with some of the assets landing at Coinbase Prime deposit addresses.
The Bitcoin component totaled 833.6 BTC, valued at about $71.6 million, and it was routed through two unlabeled addresses before reaching addresses Arkham tags as Coinbase Prime, the custody and trading service Coinbase runs for large institutions.
Arkham also tracked the government moving 40,285 BNB, while noting that no sale has been confirmed. The reason for the transfers, or whether any liquidation is planned, remains unconfirmed, Decrypt reported.
Arkham said about 568.7 BTC of the Bitcoin stash it tied to forfeited funds from Sergei Potapenko and Ivan Turõgin, who ran HashFlare, a mining service that sold contracts without the computing power to back them. Prosecutors said HashFlare took in more than $577 million in sales between 2015 and 2019, and a federal court sentenced both men in August 2025 after prosecutors pursued asset forfeiture, according to Decrypt.
