Wall Street closes lower as long-dated Treasury yields rise
The 30-year Treasury yield touched a 24-year high, helping push investors back toward inflation and rate-hike worries.
Wall Street ended lower on Wednesday after long-dated U.S. Treasury yields resumed their climb, according to Reuters, a day after the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq logged record closing highs.
All three major U.S. stock indexes finished modestly lower, with the Nasdaq set for its first down day in six and the S&P 500 and Dow poised to snap their four-day winning streaks.
Reuters also reported that the 30-year Treasury bond yield hit a 24-year high, while Brent crude briefly rose above $100 per barrel.
The move followed concerns tied to Iran war-related supply disruptions that have lifted oil prices and renewed inflation fears, contributing to a broader global bond selloff that has rattled markets in recent weeks, Reuters said.
