WTW: Completed reinsurance M&A value rose 23.9% in first nine months of 2026
WTW said the value increased to USD $1.65 billion from USD $1.33 billion a year earlier, supported by a rise in deals worth more than USD $10 billion.
Global mergers and acquisitions involving reinsurance rose in the first nine months of 2026, with WTW attributing the increase in overall deal value to a higher share of large transactions, according to WTW.
WTW said the value of completed M&A transactions increased by 23.9% to USD $1.65 billion, up from USD $1.33 billion in the same period of 2025, based on its Quarterly Deal Performance Monitor.
The firm also reported that the increase was partly driven by more deals valued above USD $10 billion, and that 24 mega deals were completed in the first nine months, its strongest nine-month period on record for that deal size.
WTW said activity accelerated in the third quarter, with nine mega deals completed compared with three in the prior quarter, and that the latest nine-month period marked the largest rolling nine-month total on record.
