Yen weakens versus dollar as USD holds near 102.3 on hawkish Fed bets

USD/JPY was about 158.20, while the US Dollar Index hovered near 102.3 close to its 102.54 annual high earlier this week.

The Japanese yen fell against the US dollar on Thursday, with USD/JPY trading up about 0.12% to around 158.20 in the European session, according to FXStreet.

FXStreet attributed the move to broader US dollar strength, noting the greenback remained supported by expectations that the Federal Reserve could deliver another interest rate hike by year-end.

FXStreet also pointed to the US Dollar Index, or DXY, which was marginally higher near 102.30, close to an annual high of 102.54 reached earlier this week.
