Abramovich aides allegedly falsified paperwork to hide assets, records suggest

A new analysis of leaked corporate records also alleges involvement by London-based Eugene Tenenbaum and points to possible false evidence in a UK lawsuit.

Roman Abramovich has been placed under sanctions by the UK and EU, and a new analysis of leaked corporate records suggests his aides falsified paperwork to disguise assets and avoid tax.

According to the report, the alleged scheme involved backdating documents that mapped Abramovich’s offshore business empire, with Deloitte Cyprus staff among those named in the records.

The analysis also points to Abramovich’s closest aide, London-based Eugene Tenenbaum, as appearing to have been involved in the backdating and to have given false evidence to the UK high court during a potentially costly lawsuit.

Abramovich’s personal and financial affairs are described as being restricted because of the sanctions.
