Deloitte linked to documents allegedly used to evade tax on Abramovich
BBC Panorama says backdated paperwork helped remove assets worth $672m from Abramovich’s company accounts, including superyachts, mansions, and private jets.
BBC Panorama reports that it found evidence linking Deloitte to the falsification of documents intended to hide Roman Abramovich’s wealth and evade taxes.
The outlet says accounts signed off by Deloitte in Cyprus allegedly showed assets such as superyachts, mansions, and private jets worth $672m, about 508m pounds, vanished from Abramovich’s company accounts.
BBC Panorama also reported that Deloitte appears to have advised on a scheme to evade a large tax bill tied to Abramovich’s wealth through document falsification.
Abramovich’s lawyers denied wrongdoing, saying they deny he evaded tax or concealed his fortune and that they had no evidence Abramovich knew about, authorized, or directed any falsification.
