Blur to shut frontend Nov. 12, onchain marketplace stays open
Blur also said NFT lenders will stop matching new loans, with borrowers having until Nov. 12 to repay outstanding loans or allow them to be repaid.
Nonfungible token marketplace Blur said it will shut down its website frontend next month, a move that has drawn mixed reactions as collectors weigh how its royalty and token reward model affected creators. Cointelegraph reports Blur made the announcement on X, its first post on the platform in more than a year.
Blur said the frontend will close on Nov. 12, but its onchain marketplace will remain operational. It also indicated that Blend, a peer-to-peer perpetual NFT lending protocol connected to Blur’s ecosystem, will stop matching new loans.
According to Cointelegraph, Blur said borrowers will have until Nov. 12 to repay outstanding loans or allow the loans to be repaid.
The announcement revived criticism of the royalty policies and token rewards that helped Blur overtake OpenSea during the NFT boom, the outlet said, even as some collectors cheered the change.
