China September passenger-vehicle sales fall 28% as exports rise

Retail sales dropped to 1.62 million vehicles in September, according to CPCA data cited by OilPrice.

OilPrice reports that new data from the China Passenger Car Association showed China’s peak car-buying season cooled in September, with passenger-vehicle retail sales falling 28% year over year.

The outlet said September retail sales totaled 1.62 million vehicles.

OilPrice added that the slowdown prompted manufacturers to lean more on overseas buyers to offset weaker domestic demand, according to the CPCA report.
