Hong Kong actress Angela Yuen details harassment in long essay
Hong Kong actress Angela Yuen Lai-lam detailed experiences of sexual harassment over years in the entertainment industry, including an incident in which an actor planted an unscripted kiss on her cheek during filming, according to SCMP Economy.
SCMP Economy reports that Yuen’s revelations drew heated online discussion and swift fallout, including an apology from culture editor and writer Wong Wing-leung, known by his pen name “Red Eye,” after she recounted he once compared interviewing her to “sitting in a nightclub.”
The outlet says Yuen published a 3,000-word social media essay in Chinese titled “Those Apologies That Would Never Come,” in which she described being repeatedly demeaned and sexualised, along with verbal harassment by industry figures since she entered show business.
