Markel Canada launches Contractors & Trades insurance package
The new offering bundles casualty, property, and specialist coverages, and it adds optional contractors equipment, tools, installation floaters, plus business interruption and equipment breakdown.
Markel Canada launched a dedicated Contractors & Trades insurance offering for contractors and construction related businesses, combining casualty, property, and specialist coverage options. The insurer’s package includes commercial general liability, excess liability, and property coverage, with optional add-ons for contractors’ equipment, tools, and installation floaters.
Depending on risk, brokers can also access contractors pollution liability and errors and omissions coverage, with additional optional protections that may include business interruption and equipment breakdown. Markel said its underwriting appetite covers a range of contractor trades, including mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors, finishing and building envelope trades, and fire protection and restoration contractors.
Markel also partnered with ARAG Legal Solutions to provide a legal helpline for policyholders, along with contract review support, HR resources, and a legal document centre. The offering is positioned as contractors and trades package business rather than construction project specific insurance, and policies are distributed by PGI Canada.
