MSIG USA aims to speed up claims adjuster development with AI

The insurer’s new multi-line trainee program is built to let junior adjusters reach the equivalent of 3 to 4 years of traditional experience in about one year, while keeping human oversight of decisions.

MSIG USA is betting that AI could significantly accelerate how quickly claims adjusters develop, potentially helping new hires reach the equivalent of three to four years of traditional experience in just one year, according to the insurer’s chief claims officer Ron Morrison, speaking to Insurance Business.

Insurance Business reports that MSIG USA’s new multi-line trainee program uses automation and predictive analytics to reduce administrative workloads, aiming to give junior adjusters more opportunities to build investigation, negotiation, and critical-thinking skills.

Morrison said AI can predict claim outcomes faster by drawing on data from the insurer’s claims pool and breaking it down into probable outcomes, while the program is designed so human oversight remains part of claims decisions, Insurance Business reported.

The outlet also noted that MSIG USA is testing the approach through the trainee program, which is intended to accelerate development without removing human involvement in decision making.
