Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures backs AI compliance startup Leela with $4.6M seed

Leela said its AI platform turns regulations and sponsor bank agreements into audit-ready workflows, with humans keeping responsibility for consequential decisions.

AI compliance startup Leela emerged from stealth with $4.6 million in seed funding, co-led by Array Ventures and Female Founders Fund, with participation from Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures and other investors, according to Coverager.

Founded by Preeti Krishnan, Leela develops AI agents for financial services compliance. The company says its platform translates regulations, policies, and sponsor-bank agreements into workflows, performs compliance tasks, and documents work for auditors and regulators, with humans retaining responsibility for consequential decisions.

Leela plans to use the funding to hire engineering and compliance staff and expand integrations with customers’ existing technology systems. Coverager also notes that a separate $150 million fund will target emerging and growth-stage firms in fintech and insurtech, with Harbert Growth Partners leading that fund and Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures participating.
