Quantum-safe Bitcoin transaction costs drop 82% to an estimated $59
A Quantum-Safe Bitcoin Optimization Challenge benchmark logged over 1 billion verified candidates per second on an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU.
Researchers reduced the estimated computing cost for a specialized quantum-safe Bitcoin transaction by 82% to $59, according to data from a Quantum-Safe Bitcoin Optimization Challenge shared by CryptoSlate.
The projected expense fell from about $320 during StarkWare's first mainnet demonstration in August to $67 in September, before reaching $59 as of Oct. 13, after improvements in graphics processing software.
The competition, organized by StarkWare, Yukon Research, and Eigen Labs, used AI-assisted coding tools to speed up the computational searches needed for the transactions, with its latest benchmark showing more than 1 billion verified candidates per second on an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU.
CryptoSlate also noted that the $59 figure is a hardware-dependent estimate based on simulated GPU workloads, and that Bitcoin network fees would be separate from the computing cost.
