Rising Edge hires chief actuary, general manager for growth push

Rising Edge also named a tax insurance underwriter to build a complementary tax liability insurance line as it expands into new coverage areas.

Rising Edge Ltd, a specialist managing general agent, announced three strategic appointments as it scales its platform and expands into new lines of insurance. The company named Chris Smerald as Chief Actuary, Jessica Stephenson as General Manager, and Tatiana Davanzo as Tax Insurance Underwriter.

Reinsurance News said Smerald brings experience in actuarial science and data analytics, including work applying advanced technologies to reserving, pricing, claims, and delegated authority challenges. Stephenson joins from Connect Underwriting Group, and will support the company’s expansion and operational development as General Manager.

The outlet also reported that Davanzo will lead the development of Rising Edge’s tax liability insurance business. The firm said the hires are intended to strengthen its underwriting expertise and technical capabilities while it invests in innovation.
