Wholesale broker links AI research to better healthcare submissions

Brown & Riding’s Dennis Fox says doing underwriter “homework” before a carrier submission helps flag missing rating data early.

Brown & Riding wholesale broker Dennis Fox said demand for healthcare risk specialists is rising, with AI-aided research helping firms build stronger submissions for complex coverage.

Fox, who leads the brokerage’s Healthcare Practice, places coverage for senior care facilities, allied health providers, and human and social service organizations, noting that some standard carriers have largely moved back from this segment.

He said his experience placing professional liability risks on the wholesale side shaped how he structures submissions, including connecting rating variables such as payroll, area, revenue, bed counts, and employee counts to individual risks.

Fox added that the approach enables him to identify missing information early so it does not slow down a carrier’s review, providing more insight into addressing gaps in submissions.
