Willem Middelkoop says central banks prefer controllable assets
He argues central banks cannot control Bitcoin’s price, supply, and market, while institutions have gained access through ETFs.
Bitcoin Magazine featured comments from Willem Middelkoop, founder of the Commodity Discovery Fund and author of The Big Reset, saying central banks favor assets they can control rather than Bitcoin, whose price, supply, and market he says are beyond their reach.
Middelkoop pointed to central banks buying gold at a record pace, and questioned why they have not moved the same way into Bitcoin, framing the difference as a preference for controllable holdings.
The outlet also highlighted Middelkoop’s view that institutions have embraced Bitcoin through ETFs, including his own fund’s use of the product to gain exposure.
The video notes that the discussion also covered oil prices and the Gulf, a broader “debasement trade” theme linking Bitcoin and gold, and topics such as BRICS and de-dollarization.
