Dollar edges higher as currency moves stay choppy
The greenback firms a bit against major peers, while commodity and emerging-market FX split.
The Dollar index rises 0.2% to 100.708. Against major developed peers, EUR/USD adds 0.2% to 1.1448, GBP/USD rises 0.6% to 1.3476, and USD/JPY edges up 0.1% to 162.341.
Commodity currencies are mixed. AUD/USD gains 0.3% to 0.7, USD/CAD slips 0.1% to 1.4038, and USD/BRL rises 0.3% to 5.1019.
Emerging-market pairs are also uneven. USD/CNY falls 0.1% to 6.7632, USD/INR slips 0.1% to 96.335, USD/MXN is nearly flat, and USD/KRW drops 0.7% to 1477.73.
The data show no single clean FX regime today, just a modestly firmer dollar with scattered moves elsewhere. GBP/USD remains above its 50-day and 200-day averages, while USD/CNY stays below its 200-day average.
