Dollar firms as euro and pound ease
The greenback edges up, with yen and franc crosses moving in different directions.
The Dollar index rises 0.2% to 100.708, extending a move that leaves it above both its 50-day and 200-day averages. That keeps the dollar on the firmer side even as the weekly move stays slightly negative at 0.23%.
EUR/USD slips 0.2% to 1.145, and GBP/USD falls 0.5% to 1.3477. USD/JPY rises 0.2% to 162.332, while USD/CHF gains 0.5% to 0.8084.
In the commodity currencies, AUD/USD dips 0.1% to 0.7001 and USD/CAD is nearly flat at 1.4035. USD/MXN rises 0.3% to 17.418, and USD/ZAR climbs 0.5% to 16.4027.
Some crosses remain stretched on momentum gauges. GBP/USD has an RSI of 71.6, USD/INR sits at 76.9, and USD/JPY is above its 50-day and 200-day averages with a close of 162.332.
