Aon restructures leadership for UK and Ireland reinsurance team

The changes add a new COO role and expand strategy, property, and longtail leadership, with Tom Murray overseeing reinsurance performance and growth across the region.

Aon has expanded Tom Murray’s responsibilities in reinsurance for the UK and Ireland, naming him Head of Reinsurance for the region and co-leader of Aon’s Global ReSpecialty. The firm said Murray will own overall strategy, performance, and growth, while focusing on bringing more of Aon’s solution capabilities to clients, improving collaboration across solution lines, and driving innovation to meet evolving needs.

Effective immediately, Aon appointed Andrew Buckland as Chief Operating Officer for the Reinsurance UK and Ireland team. Buckland will oversee reinsurance business operations, including operational excellence, infrastructure and transformation initiatives, and people development.

Charlie New will take responsibility for shaping and executing the reinsurance business strategy agenda for the UK and Ireland, including growth initiatives, market positioning, and key change programmes. Andrew Larkin has been named Head of Property for reinsurance in the UK and Ireland, tasked with client strategy, market relationships, and development of tailored risk transfer and advisory solutions, while retaining his current role as Head of Australia and New Zealand.

Richard Evans was appointed Head of Longtail and Structured Solutions for the UK and Ireland, leading the longtail portfolio for motor and liability lines. All newly appointed leaders report to Murray, who said the leadership team is intended to help clients navigate volatility, build resilience, and make better decisions that protect and grow their businesses, according to Reinsurance News.
