Hyperexponential launches AI underwriting agent for commercial P&C

The agent is designed to take a broker email submission through extraction, rule checks, and underwriting workflow steps until the risk is priced and ready for a decision.

Hyperexponential has introduced Hyperoperator, an AI powered underwriting agent aimed at automating parts of commercial property and casualty insurer workflows, with the goal of progressing broker submissions from receipt to a decision-ready file while staying within an insurer’s existing pricing and governance framework.

According to Hyperexponential, the system is intended to do routine preparation and administrative work, such as extracting and structuring relevant information from a forwarded broker submission, determining the next permitted step, applying underwriting rules, and preparing a file for underwriter review where professional judgement is required.

Hyperoperator can route submissions to an underwriter or continue automatically through underwriting based on insurer configured controls, and it is built to integrate with the hx platform plus email, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and mobile devices.

Hyperexponential said commercial P and C insurers face pressure to respond faster to brokers without losing underwriting discipline and profitability, adding that many prior AI pilots have been limited to intake or triage because underwriting knowledge is fragmented across pricing models, appetite guidelines, authority limits, and other systems and documents.
