China recovers reusable rocket stage after maiden Long March 10B launch

The Long March 10B lifted off from Wenchang at 12.15pm, and its first stage was recovered via a sea-based net platform after returning vertically.

China has successfully recovered the reusable first stage of its Long March 10B rocket after the vehicle’s maiden launch, according to state news agency Xinhua, reported by SCMP Economy.

The 70-metre tall, 5-metre wide medium-lift rocket launched from the Wenchang space launch site in southern China at 12.15pm.

Soon after liftoff, the first stage returned vertically and was recovered using a sea-based net platform, the outlet said.

The reported recovery adds to the program’s early demonstration of reusable staging following the maiden flight.
