Malaysia’s Anwar threatens to deport any Israelis at Johor commune

The warning followed a national security investigation into The Network School in Forest City after online backlash over a video promoting the co living project.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said his government will deport any Israelis found at a self styled start up society in Johor, after online claims about the commune prompted a national security investigation, according to SCMP Economy.

Anwar told reporters on Wednesday that Malaysia will not allow Israelis to be at the site, and said that if Israeli nationals are identified, they would be deported immediately, noting Malaysia does not recognize Israel.

The Network School, a co living compound in Forest City, is described as being founded by former Coinbase executive Balaji Srinivasan. SCMP Economy said scrutiny began after Srinivasan posted a glossy video last week that drew attention to the project and ignited backlash in Malaysia.
