Center for Justice Innovation expands office space at 520 Eighth Avenue
The deal adds 1,300 square feet and consolidates the nonprofit’s footprint across the building’s 18th and 19th floors under a new 20-year lease.
Center for Justice Innovation has signed a deal to expand its Midtown office footprint at 520 Eighth Avenue, adding space and extending its existing lease, GFP Real Estate said.
The expansion brings the nonprofit to 34,300 square feet, covering part of the building’s 18th floor and the entire 19th floor. GFP said the lease runs for 20 years, with the organization increasing its presence from its prior footprint that included 33,000 square feet across parts of the 10th, 18th and 23rd floors.
GFP’s Matthew Mandell, who represented the landlord in-house, said the transaction supports the nonprofit’s next phase of growth and reinforces 520 Eighth Avenue’s role as a hub for mission driven organizations.
The asking rent was not disclosed, but Newmark research cited by the landlord put the average asking rent for office properties in the Penn District at $70.09 per square foot during the second quarter of 2026. Open Impact Real Estate’s Stephen Powers and Jake Cinti represented the tenant, and the nonprofit’s consolidation into a modernized headquarters was described as positioning the organization for long-term savings and growth.
