Brooklyn real estate conference highlights rent freeze and Fulton Street revival
Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rent freeze and a retail revival on Fulton Street were key themes at TerraCRG’s Only Brooklyn Real Estate Conference at BRIC.
Brooklyn was the sole focus of TerraCRG’s Only Brooklyn Real Estate Conference at BRIC, with the event centered on Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rent freeze and plans for a retail revival on Fulton Street, according to Commercial Observer.
The conference, held at 647 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn, opened with remarks from Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and Deputy Mayor for Housing and Planning Leila Bozorg.
Bozorg said the city is moving into a new era of housing development as the expedited land use review procedure, ELURP, takes effect in 12 City Council districts.
Commercial Observer reports Bozorg also noted that over half of the city’s renters are rent-burdened, paying more than 30 percent of their income toward rent, and that a large share pay 50 percent of their income toward rent.
