India is becoming a swing supplier of refined fuel exports

India is set to export about 1.4 million barrels per day of refined products in July, around 50% more than May, with cargoes rerouted to markets facing shortages.

India is emerging as a swing supplier for refined fuels such as diesel, jet fuel, and gasoline, with its refiners increasingly redirecting exports toward regions with the biggest supply gaps, OilPrice reports. The shift moves beyond the traditional focus on crude production and instead highlights how refined-product supply can rebalance globally as demand and disruptions change.

OilPrice notes that several recent disruptions helped create opportunities for Indian refiners. Middle Eastern refining capacity was affected during the Iran-US war, Russian diesel exports fell amid Ukrainian drone strikes, and Europe later scrambled to find replacement barrels.

According to Kpler cited by OilPrice, India is on track to export about 1.4 million barrels per day of refined products in July. That would be roughly 50% higher than May and the highest monthly export volume since September, with cargoes going to the highest premium markets rather than a single destination.

The outlet also points to shifting destinations for Indian diesel. Two months ago, more than 80% of India's diesel exports went to Africa, while Europe received none, reflecting how changing trade constraints and regional fuel shortages influenced where Indian cargoes were sent.
