Protests erupt in Ukraine after defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov is removed
In Kyiv, more than a thousand protesters waved Ukrainian and EU flags and chanted for the defense minister to be reinstated.
Large protests erupted in multiple Ukrainian cities after the removal of defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov, with demonstrators gathering in Kyiv and chanting against the decision, according to SCMP Economy.
The outlet reported that more than a thousand people assembled on a central square, singing the national anthem, waving Ukrainian and EU flags, and calling for Fedorov to be brought back.
SCMP Economy said Fedorov had been appointed only six months earlier and had built a reputation as a modernizer, including efforts to reform the Ukrainian military that has been worn down by more than four years of Russia's invasion.
