Saronic Technologies to open new Texas shipyard for drone boats

The company said its naval drone helped rescue the crew of a downed Apache helicopter last month.

Saronic Technologies, a maker of drone boats used in the Iran war, plans to open a new shipyard in Texas to produce naval and commercial vessels, according to NYT Business.

The company expects the Texas facility to support both defense-related production and wider commercial shipbuilding, NYT Business reported.

NYT Business added that Saronic’s naval drone recently helped rescue the crew of a downed Apache helicopter, underscoring the role the technology is playing in active operations.
