Dollar mixed as euro and yen hold steady in late-week trade

EUR/USD was flat at 1.1435 while USD/JPY held around 162.30, as 10-year Treasury yields eased 4 basis points to 4.525%.

Forexlive reports that late-week trading remained mixed for the US dollar, with investors split between moves in rates and pressure in equities. The backdrop included weakness that pulled through from previous selling, with US stock index futures lower.

In major currency pairs, EUR/USD was little changed at 1.1435 and USD/JPY was steady near 162.30. The dollar was also weaker versus the Swiss franc, with USD/CHF down 0.2% to 0.8068, while USD/CAD slipped 0.1% to 1.4025.

Rate moves were part of the picture as well. Forexlive said 10-year Treasury yields fell 4 basis points to 4.525% during the session, while oil and precious metals saw comparatively stronger swings.

Traders also focused on how equities would close out the week, with Forexlive describing the environment as likely to stay volatile into the weekend. Oil was up 2.6% to $81.00 per barrel, while gold rose 0.6% to $3,992 and silver was down 0.2% to $55.40.
