MS Reinsurance appoints underwriting leaders for North America, Latin America
Both roles take effect Aug. 1, with Lisa Butera leading North America and Lucas Castagnino elevated to chief underwriting officer for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
MS Reinsurance has named new underwriting leadership for its Americas operations, effective Aug. 1. The company named Lisa Butera chief underwriting officer for North America, and elevated Lucas Castagnino to chief underwriting officer for Latin America and the Caribbean.
In its announcement, MS Re highlighted the changes as part of strengthening underwriting leadership in the region, following a comprehensive search process that considered both internal and external candidates. Jörg Bruniecki, group chief underwriting officer, said the appointments are intended to build on underwriting momentum.
Butera joins from Swiss Re, where she served as managing director, head of FinPro and Casualty, North America, Corporate Solutions. The company said she brings more than 30 years of experience across primary and reinsurance markets and will oversee MS Re's National, Regional, and MGA underwriting teams in the United States and Bermuda.
Castagnino has been with MS Re since 2016 and will step into a newly established chief underwriting officer role. MS Re said he brings three decades of market knowledge and will focus on driving the company’s ambitions across Latin American markets.
