Terrell, Texas pitches growth as DFW retail and logistics hub expands

The city links its expansion to major employers and an Amazon-led logistics project, alongside a $3B master-planned community.

Terrell, Texas, about 30 minutes outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Kaufman County, is positioning itself as a growing retail and logistics hub as industrial and job growth accelerates, according to Bisnow.

The Terrell Economic Development Corp. is a key driver of that push, with local officials highlighting the citys location near the intersection of Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 80. Bisnow notes that Terrell is balancing a growing economy with continued preservation of historical attractions, including the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum at the Terrell Municipal Airport.

Bisnow reports that Terrell has attracted major employers such as Nucor Steel, Walmart and Amazon. Amazon is building out a 120-acre logistics center near Airport Road in Kaufman County, and the rollout is expected to create thousands of jobs, helping support economic activity around the city’s 25,000-plus population.

The city has also drawn attention for Terra Nova Village, described by Bisnow as a $3B, 1,545-acre master-planned community. The article says the area’s workforce opportunities extend beyond Terrell to surrounding smaller cities that may have a smaller employment base.
