Bitcoin Japan plans a $60 million raise to buy bitcoin

The Block reports the prior December raise did not fund bitcoin purchases, instead supporting stakes tied to SpaceX and Figure AI.

Bitcoin Japan, which the company says currently holds no bitcoin, has tapped the EVO Fund as part of a planned $60 million fundraise intended to change that, according to The Block.

The outlet says Bitcoin Japan previously completed a December raise, but that money was used differently, including stakes tied to SpaceX and Figure AI rather than buying bitcoin.

Bitcoin Japan said those two investments represent its AI infrastructure positions to date, and the planned new capital is aimed at finally purchasing bitcoin.

Details of the size and timing of the EVO Fund-backed raise were not further specified beyond the planned $60 million figure cited by The Block.
