Bitcoin slips 2.2% after oil jumps on Ukraine and Iran strike reports

BTC/USD reached $84,254 on Bitstamp, its highest level since Wednesday, before falling as WTI pushed above $94 and Brent hit $107.3.

Bitcoin fell as much as 2.2% after failing to hold above $84,000 into the Wall Street open, Cointelegraph reported. TradingView data cited by the outlet showed BTC/USD reaching $84,254 on Bitstamp, its highest level since Wednesday, before dropping.

Cointelegraph linked the move to rising oil prices amid reported Ukraine and Iran strike developments. The outlet said Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of continuing to target energy infrastructure, while Iran reported an oil tanker was hit and ablaze in the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil prices reacted sharply, with WTI crude spiking above $94 per barrel and Brent crude reaching $107.25, the highest since Sept. 16, according to Cointelegraph. The article described the crypto market as staying rangebound after the pullback from the session peak.
