Hong Kong’s Legislative Council lawmakers have started an unprecedented week long study trip to Beijing, according to SCMP Economy.
Legco’s president said the trip would help lawmakers gain a first hand understanding of the country’s latest conditions and policies, as they work to ensure Hong Kong aligns better with national development.
The itinerary includes visits to the central government’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office and seminars covering subjects such as national security, international relations, the formulation of five year plans, and China’s legal system.
Lawmakers will also visit industries described as part of Beijing’s growth model focused on technological breakthroughs and industrial upgrades, branded as “new quality productive forces.”
