Indian banks in focus after Q1 results and updated financial metrics
HDFC Bank reported standalone Q1 FY27 net profit of ₹19,060 crore and a 3.26% net interest margin on total assets following results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
Bank shares including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Yes Bank are set to stay in focus on Monday, July 20, after each reported Q1 results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, released on Saturday, June 18, according to LiveMint Markets.
HDFC Bank posted standalone net profit of ₹19,060 crore for April to June in FY27, up 5.0% year over year from ₹18,155 crore in the same quarter a year earlier. The bank said net interest income rose 7.0% year over year to ₹33,534 crore, gross non-performing assets declined over 3.0% year over year to ₹35,846 crore, and net NPAs edged up marginally to ₹12,357 crore. HDFC Bank reported a net interest margin of 3.26% on total assets and 3.40% on interest-earning assets, while its balance sheet expanded to ₹43.97 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026, from ₹39.54 lakh crore a year earlier.
ICICI Bank reported a 16.0% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹14,804.5 crore for the June quarter, from ₹12,768.2 crore. The lender’s net interest income rose 12.7% year over year to ₹24,384 crore, supported by credit growth and improved margins, and net interest margin came in at 4.36% for the quarter, slightly above 4.34% a year earlier. Asset quality was described as strong, with the gross NPA ratio improving to 1.38% and the net NPA ratio at 0.35% as of June 30, 2026, while advances rose 19.6% year over year to ₹16,31,260 crore and deposits grew 14.0% to ₹18,33,586 crore.
Yes Bank reported net profit of ₹1,071 crore for the April to June 2026 quarter, up 33.7% year over year and slightly higher quarter over quarter at 0.2%, with net interest margin improving to 2.7% for Q1 FY27 from a lower level a year earlier, helped by a lower adjustment in the period cited by LiveMint Markets.
